Process Engineer - Remanufactured Parts

I.  POSITION PURPOSE 

Devise processes for manufacturing rubber products by applying principles and technology of chemistry, physics, and engineering.  Performs the following duties directly.

 

II.  NATURE AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Evaluate, develop, implement and/or improve on processes in manufacturing systems.

  • Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Performs conceptual and detail design work on manufacturing tools and equipment.
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency improvement.
  • Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrates an ability to think ahead and plan over a 3-6 month time span.
  • Demonstrates an ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Possesses technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment.
  • Demonstrates quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Conducts problem analysis and problem resolution.
  • Supports prototyping activities of new product development.
  • Evaluates and solve production problems by providing technical support.
  • Excels at working in a team environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineer (or related field) or 4 years of experience in Engineer position.
    • Experience with 3D CAD, Creo and PLM
    • Must be able to work with customers to define and document requirements, address technical concerns and provide project status.
    • Ability to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Able to work with minimal supervision, both alone and in teams.
    • This position requires that the person be a highly organized individual, who is self-motivated, and can work independently.
    • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and or priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.

 

Preferred

    • Experience with SAP
    • Manufacturing processes improvement (5S, Lean, Process Flow Analysis/VSM, Work Station Setup, SMED, etc.)
    • SPC (statistical process control).
    • Programming and automation

 

PRESENTATION SKILLS:

            Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing and to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

              

FINANCIAL/COMPUTATIVE SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to demonstrate confidentiality of Agency information.  Ability to understand and utilize the company's computer software.

 

ANALYTICAL ABILITY:

            Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, graph, chart or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
