Operations Director Tracks & Wheels

 

The Challenge

 

  • We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Director in Kansas. As Operations Director Tracks and Wheels AG, you will oversee our 2 Kansas Agriculture manufacturing sites which are our Emporia Plant and our new start-up plant in Junction City
     
  • These plants are dedicated to supply our Agriculture division in rubber tracks and rubber and polyurethane wheels.  Reporting directly to the Operations Director are the Tracks & Wheel Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Emporia leadership team and the Junction City Plant Manager.  The Emporia plant has about 150 employees while the Junction city site will have about 35 employees by SOP.

The Operations Director is part of the Tracks & Wheel Agriculture stream that includes great people in the USA, in Europe and in Canada.
     

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and vision to the plants while being accountable for the overall Agriculture Tracks & Wheels plant performance: Safety, Quality, Service, Cost, Environment and Employee Engagement;
  • Drive a continuous improvement (Lean) and technology mind-set within the plants’ environment
  • Act hand-in-hand with the stream leadership team 
  • Provide the manufacturing vision and deploy the strategic planning within the 2 manufacturing sites;
  • Responsible for industrializing new products within both sites to support growth;
  • Responsible for the project management team including the new site launch and ramp up the site’s performance;
  • Maximize team effectiveness within the 2 sites including synergy, best practices implementation and team cohesion;
  • Accountable for developing talent and ensuring succession within the AG Business Unit at both plants;
  • Build relationships with customers at all levels;
  • Monitor financials and KPI’s of each plant.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering or Business required
  •  Demonstrate a progressive career within Manufacturing with a minimum of 15 years of management experience including a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Plant Director role
  • Have a successful track record in developing talents and teams within all plant functions and levels
  • Known to be skilled at managing complexity while being able to implement pragmatic and systematic solutions
  • Demonstrated responsibility for proposing and implementing capital projects
  • Rubber industry experience is preferred
  • Ability to embrace new ideas and approaches while installing employee engagement and confidence in our customers 
  • Experience with starting up a plant and/or implementation of significant technology changes
  • Has very strong continuous improvement knowledge and has been successful within a growing business
  • Known to build strong relationships internally and with customers
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Knowledge of ERP / MRP systems such as SAP
  • Travelling outside of Kansas may be required (up to 10%)
